Watercolorist, born in 1953, Miami Beach, FL. Attended University of S. Florida, Tampa, FL and University of Miami, 1973-1976, graduated with Bachelors degree in Marketing and Finance. Father, John P. Gallo M.D. from Schenectady, NY urged to follow his footsteps and study medicine, but strong desire to pursue music and arts eventually became John's calling. "You have to love what you do, if you ever want to be successful at it" I paint urban landscapes, country scenes, mountains, beach scapes and dreams. My original passion was music. I've composed over 200 songs, some of which can be heard on my CD released in 1998 by DynoDisc Records and Produced and Recorded by Richard Serota at OutLine Studios in North Miami, FL entitled "$10 Guitar". I wrote all of the Music and Lyrics, and backed up by Randy Rubin, Grant Epstein, Leighton Hamer(deceased) and Stevie Rose(also deceased), along with various backup vocals, performed all the songs. While living in Little Torch Key, FL, just north of Key West, I began experimenting with watercolors. I acquired some paint brushes at local garage sales and watercolor paints at the store nearby. My training in the showroom of an interior design firm where I worked while attending U of M, paid off big as I was familiar with color combinations and what colors worked with others. If I had to describe how this felt, I would describe the different feelings and emotions that effect me personally when my eye sees different color combinations and arrangements To me, this is very similar to how music affects my different senses, as well as my feelings and moods. "Art and music are medicine to troubled minds."
